Ortovox Litric Zero 27

ORTOVOX AVABAG LiTRIC ZERO 27

The ORTOVOX AVABAG LiTRIC ZERO 27 is a minimalist avalanche airbag backpack built around low weight, practical storage and a streamlined design. At 1,970 g, it offers 27 litres of usable volume and a LiTRIC airbag system that combines electronic activation with the lightweight practicality of a cartridge-free design. The system uses a fan to fill the 150-litre airbag with ambient air, so there is no gas cartridge to replace.

The main compartment opens from the front with a water-resistant two-way zip, giving you a clear view of your gear. Its light-coloured interior helps you find equipment in low light, while the integrated avalanche gear organiser keeps essential safety equipment organised. There is also a hydration reservoir attachment and a dedicated front pocket for a map, compass and other navigation essentials, with a small key clip inside.

The LiTRIC system is powered by an integrated battery and supercapacitors. Charging is via USB-C and takes approximately 2–3 hours. A full charge allows two activations, with around 25 minutes needed after the first activation before the system is ready to inflate again. The 150-litre airbag inflates in approximately four seconds, and the system is designed to function in temperatures down to -30°C. An indicator visible through a mesh window shows the charge status.

Activation is straightforward: rotate the trigger by 180° to switch between the ready and locked positions. The trigger can be adjusted to three height settings on the shoulder strap, and the locking position helps prevent accidental deployment. After activation, the airbag can be deflated and packed away without a complicated folding procedure. A mechanical safety catch helps prevent the airbag compartment from opening unintentionally.

The pack uses lightweight, tear-resistant 210D Dyneema polyamide fabric and keeps its exterior clean, without unnecessary straps or elastic loops. The FULL CONTACT LIGHT back system uses 3D-moulded memory foam to follow body movement and spread the load through the shoulder straps and hip belt. A chest strap adds stability on descents, while the softshell-covered back helps prevent snow from sticking. Skis attach using D-Skifix, and there are additional attachment points for an ice axe, poles and a helmet net. The LiTRIC system is rechargeable, with no cartridge to buy or replace.
