Völkl VTA 78 + Marker Tour F12 bindings

Völkl VTA 78 - 178 cm + Marker Tour F12

The Völkl VTA 78 is a lightweight, narrow touring ski built for efficient uphill travel rather than throwing big shapes in deep snow. At 78 mm underfoot and around 1180 g per ski, it is the sort of ski that makes considerably more sense once the skins are on and the trail starts going up.

The Tip Rocker helps with handling in softer snow, while the Tourlite Woodcore keeps the weight down without making the ski completely lifeless on the way back down. Cap Construction adds durability, and the SkinPin system provides the attachment point for compatible climbing skins.

At 178 cm with an approximately 19 m radius, the VTA 78 is aimed at stable, longer turns rather than freestyle antics. In other words, this is a touring ski. At Freeskier, we tend to spend rather more time looking for powder and suitable things to jump off, so these aren't exactly our usual cup of tea.

But they're perfectly respectable tools for someone who values efficient uphill travel and doesn't need a wide ski for the descent. And with the Marker Tour F12 bindings already mounted, you're getting a functional touring setup for roughly what the bindings are worth. That's the pitch. We're not going to pretend these are secretly freeride skis.

The skis are used and sold without climbing skins.
