Kästle ZX 108 (Model 25/26)

The Kästle ZX108 continues the same freeride concept that made the previous generation such a fun ski. With 108 mm underfoot, a tapered shape and rocker at both ends, it is built primarily for soft snow and powder, while remaining perfectly manageable when you have to cross a groomer to get back to the lift.

The construction combines a Poplar/Beech woodcore with fiberglass reinforcement and Kästle's Hollowtech 2.0 in the shovel. The Hollowtech construction removes material from the tip, reducing weight where it matters and helping the front of the ski stay smooth and easy to steer. The Semi-Cap Sandwich Sidewall construction provides a good balance of durability, torsional strength and direct power transmission.

The low camber and Progressive Rise give the ZX108 an easy, predictable feel in soft snow. The hook-free shovel and tail, together with the rocker profile, make it easy to release the ski from the turn and encourage that characteristic drifting feel. The twin-tip shape also leaves room for some freeride creativity when the terrain calls for it.

The ZX108 is a cruiser rather than a short-turn specialist. Its radius ranges from 15.1 m in 169 cm to 21.3 m in 191 cm, with the 179 cm version at 17.9 m. It prefers longer, flowing turns and feels most at home when there is enough snow to let the 108 mm waist do its job.

Compared with the 2023/24 ZX108, the 2025/26 model stays very close to the established formula. The same basic dimensions, Poplar/Beech core, Hollowtech 2.0 and Semi-Cap Sandwich Sidewall construction carry over, so this is best understood as a continuation of the ZX108 rather than a completely different ski. If you liked the previous Drifter, you will recognise the character immediately.

Summary:

The Kästle ZX108 remains a playful, powder-focused freeride ski with 108 mm underfoot, double rocker and a strong preference for longer turns. The 2025/26 version stays very close to the proven character of the previous generation, combining a Poplar/Beech core, Hollowtech 2.0 and Semi-Cap Sandwich Sidewall construction. A solid choice for advanced intermediate to advanced skiers who want a fun, predictable ski for soft snow rather than a hard-charging piste weapon.
