The Faction Nine 5 is a sporty all-mountain ski for skiers who want a strong, stable platform on groomers without being limited to perfectly prepared pistes. With a 95 mm waist, moderate rocker and 2 mm of camber underfoot, it offers a useful balance of edge hold, stability and maneuverability in rougher terrain.

The poplar and beech wood core is reinforced with a full layer of titanal. The sandwich construction provides strength, damping and precise power transmission, allowing the Nine 5 to stay composed at speed and on firm snow. The titanal also gives it a fairly stiff, sporty character — this is not a soft ski that will do all the work for you.

The dual-radius sidecut, Transition Zone Technology and rocker in both tip and tail become particularly useful in moguls, trees and broken resort snow. The ski is relatively easy to redirect and handles shorter turns without feeling cumbersome. On groomers, the camber and titanal provide strong edge grip and stability.

The Nine 5 makes the most sense for skiers looking for a solid all-mountain ski with a distinctly sporty character. It is not as playful as Faction's wider freestyle models, and 95 mm underfoot does not make it a powder ski. For groomers, firm snow, moguls and rough resort terrain, however, it is very well equipped.
