The Faction CT 3.0 is a lightweight and playful all-mountain ski from the Candide Thovex series, built around a 108 mm waist, low weight and a strong freestyle influence. It is aimed at skiers who want to use the whole mountain — from groomers and powder to natural terrain and jumps.

The lightweight balsa wood core with fibreglass keeps the ski at around 1850 g per ski in the 182 cm length. Despite that low weight, the CT 3.0 is not a fragile toy. Testing highlighted its stability at speed and ability to handle a wide range of conditions. The early-rise tip helps in powder, while the relatively low camber keeps the ski loose and easy to smear.

On groomers, the CT 3.0 performs surprisingly well for a 108 mm ski. It offers useful edge grip and, thanks to its asymmetrical shape, can carve considerably better than many freestyle-oriented skis. Its real strength, however, is the freedom to change your approach depending on the terrain. You can carve it, smear it, butter it or use natural features as they come. In deeper snow, the 108 mm waist provides plenty of flotation for most normal freeride days.

The CT 3.0 is primarily a playful all-mountain ski rather than a race tool or an ultralight touring ski. Its low weight is a major advantage around the resort, while touring is less compelling and the early-rise tail can make kick turns awkward. For an experienced skier looking for one lightweight ski that can handle speed, powder and freestyle skiing, though, it makes a lot of sense.
