Black Crows Camox + Salomon Strive 13 GW (Model 22/23)
The Black Crows Camox is a playful all-mountain ski with a slightly freestyle-inspired personality and a more directional feel than its appearance might suggest. With 97 mm underfoot, it sits in a useful middle ground between a narrower piste-oriented ski and a dedicated freeride model. Its character is built around versatility, manoeuvrability and a willingness to be skied creatively, without sacrificing the support needed for more committed turns.
What makes the Camox interesting is the balance between its playful shape and relatively traditional construction. The twin-tipped profile and moderately forward mounting position encourage a more centred stance and give the ski room for freestyle-inspired skiing. However, its relatively long effective edge, limited taper and substantial traditional camber underfoot give it a more directional character than many similarly playful skis. It can be pushed into longer turns and responds well when you put pressure into the edges, while its progressive flex keeps it manageable rather than overly demanding.
The Camox has a particularly interesting flex pattern. The tips and tails are relatively strong, while the areas around the bindings have a smoother, more progressive flex. Combined with approximately 9 mm of camber underfoot, this gives the ski a lively character and good potential for generating energy out of turns. Its relatively shallow rocker profile keeps plenty of ski in contact with the snow, while the rockered tips and tails help with manoeuvrability when conditions become softer or more variable.
On the mountain, the Camox is equally comfortable exploring off-piste terrain, skiing through softer snow or spending the day on groomers. It is not a dedicated powder ski, nor is it a pure freestyle park ski. Instead, it occupies the space between playful freeride skiing and more traditional all-mountain performance. Its 97 mm waist provides a useful platform in softer snow, while the relatively traditional camber and longer sidecut make it equally interesting on firmer terrain.
The included Salomon Strive 13 GW bindings complete the package. They are an alpine binding compatible with GripWalk boots. Their inclusion makes this a straightforward all-mountain setup for skiers who want one pair of skis for exploring different parts of the mountain.

Why choose these skis – and why not?
The Camox is a strong option for advanced skiers who enjoy a playful but relatively directional all-mountain ski. Its 97 mm waist, progressive flex and traditional camber make it equally interesting for carving groomers, exploring off-piste terrain and skiing creatively around the mountain. The Salomon Strive 13 GW bindings add GripWalk compatibility and complete the package. However, if you are looking primarily for deep-powder performance, a wider freeride ski would be a better choice. Likewise, dedicated park skiers or those looking for a very powerful, demanding charger may prefer something more specialised.
