Roxy Shima 96 W (model 2016/2017)
The Roxy Shima 96 is a playful women's all-mountain ski for beginner to intermediate skiers who want to do more than simply ski forwards on groomers. With a 96 mm waist, double rocker and twin-tip construction, it is easy to steer, quick to change direction and particularly enjoyable in softer snow. It works on piste, around the edges of the resort, on short powder runs and for basic freestyle.
The poplar and beech wood core is combined with fibreglass in a traditional sandwich construction. Camber underfoot provides solid edge grip, while the double rocker reduces effective snow contact and makes turn initiation easier. The 5-point sidecut adds to the predictable feel across changing snow conditions.
The Shima 96 is happiest in soft snow, where the rocker and 96 mm waist provide useful flotation, but it remains perfectly capable on groomers. The twin-tip shape also makes it well suited to skiing switch, buttering, small spins and generally playing around in the terrain. This is not a stiff, hard-charging freeride ski — its main strengths are accessibility, maneuverability and fun.
For a skier looking for one ski that can cover groomers, softer snow and the first steps into freeskiing, the Shima 96 makes a lot of sense. It has enough width and rocker for off-piste fun while remaining approachable enough to help build confidence and progress.
