Product description

Do you need reliable tracks that have a long service life , excellent “driving” properties and hold well on frozen snow and in spring snowdrifts? KOHLA THE NEW PEAK Mixmohair climbing tracks are exactly that. With a 50:50 slip and climb ratio, they are ideal for fast ascents of hills . Then you can put all your energy into a great descent. A comfortable ascent will be supported by the impregnation of the fibers, which prevents snow from sticking to the tracks, and the membrane, which does not let moisture into the glue and thus holds the tracks firmly even in changing conditions throughout the season.

Do I attach the straps to my skis?

KOHLA THE NEW PEAK Mixmohair climbing straps can be attached to any ski - you can easily replace the steel eyelet with a different attachment for a different type of tip. The parts are made of high-quality plastic and stainless steel materials that are resistant to frost and wear.

  • Tip: Fixed T-Bar tip (85 mm) that fits most skis
  • Heel: sewn-in plastic elastic strap and hook (K-Clip + Elastic Strap), which has a range of adjustment of 12 cm . For twin-tip skis, use the Butterfly hook.

Will the straps fit the width and cut of my skis?

For the easiest uphill climb, it is important to have the largest possible area of the ski base covered by the belt. Therefore, it is important to choose the right width and length of the belts . KOHLA THE NEW PEAK Mixmohair climbing belts in the Multifit version are available in 2 widths (120 mm and 130 mm) and in lengths from 142 - 197 cm in 6 cm increments, and you simply cut the belts 2.5 mm from the side exactly to the shape of your skis.

Smart Glue – a newly developed adhesive

One of the things you need for ski-alp belts is that the adhesive layer holds firmly to the ski base even in the most demanding conditions . The Austrian manufacturer KOHLA is a leader in adhesive layer technologies and is constantly improving and innovating them. The proof is the newly developed Smart Glue, which you can really rely on and holds perfectly even in really cold weather.

  • When gluing ski mountaineering belts with Smart Glue, you don't need to use a release film and you only need 60% of the force to unstick them compared to standard belts.

Long-lasting climbing belts

KOHLA PEAK Mixmohair belts are designed for frequent use. The combination of high-quality mohair and nylon (65% mohair and 35% nylon) ensures the optimal ratio between excellent glide, climbing ability and long service life :

  • Mohair has excellent sliding properties, which saves a lot of effort when climbing.
  • Nylon (a synthetic polymer) gives the belts greater durability and has better wet slippage than mohair in spring snow.
  • “W” fiber weave, which is more durable, has good glide and holds well when climbing even on frozen snow.
  • The fiber layer is made of a blend of high-quality cotton and polyester - increased resistance to tearing and wear .

Holds firmly even in spring frosts

In order for the climbing belt to hold securely on the ski slope, the ski slope and the adhesive layer must be dry. If moisture from the snow gets on the adhesive, it stops working, peels off, freezes and does not hold. For this reason, these KOHLA climbing belts use vulcanization technology , in which the fiber is directly welded into the bottom layer, making the belt 100% waterproof . You can enjoy your ski tour without worries , because the adhesive holds firmly , does not freeze and works great even in spring firns on wet snow.

Belts with vulcanized technology have a longer lifespan because the pile is entangled in the fabric and baked into the underlying rubber. Thanks to this, the belt does not get wet and has significantly higher grip in difficult spring conditions.

Impregnated climbing belts

Good climbing belts must hold well on the skis and glide well on the snow. Wet snow can stick to wet belts and there is nothing more annoying than having to drag a half-kilogram of snow on your leg. The belts stop sliding and it takes too much effort. All KOHLA climbing belts are impregnated with fluorocarbon and snow does not stick to them.

  • The impregnation repels moisture and thus prevents snow from sticking to the fibers.
  • Impregnation improves glide - climbing belts are faster and movement is easier.
  • Impregnation increases the durability of the fibers - the riser strips last longer.
  • Riser strips dry faster.
  • The impregnation is environmentally friendly - free of solvents and toxic substances and is biodegradable.

Still like new

With frequent use or after several seasons, the effect of the impregnation may decrease. In this case, you can easily restore it with KOHLA DRY CLIMB skin impregnation spray or KOHLA impregnation wax . The wax is small and is convenient to have in your backpack on a hike, especially for multi-day hikes.

Easy maintenance and service

  • The belts are supplied with a bag and a knife for trimming, nothing else is needed for the belts and assembly.
  • With KOHLA impregnation spray or wax, you can increase the water repellency of fibers, improve their sliding properties and increase their durability.
  • In the event of damage to the tip or heel attachment, the spare part can be easily replaced with a new one.
  • If you destroy or lose one belt, KOHLA will make a new half pair.
